ANOTHER 57 Reasons to Love Teenagers

Teenagers are at a critical juncture in their lives. Many times we, their parents and other adults, lose site of that, and of just how difficult the passage from childhood into adulthood can be. Kids, just like anyone else, need to know and hear that they are appreciated. That’s why reminding them on a regular basis that we love them is so important.

A few months ago, I published a list of 57 Reasons to Love Teenagers. People loved that list, including a lot of teens. My own teen’s immediate reaction to the list was that I should be able to think up at least that many more reasons to love teens. So as she requested, here is the list of Another 57 Reasons to Love Your Teenagers.

  1. A teenager can eat a whole cupcake in one bite. (And still be skinny. And hungry.)Cupcake
  2. They love to go exploring.
  3. They are sweet and sensitive enough to come give you a big hug when you are upset and tell you it will all be okay.
  4. It is fun to watch them be together. They are “friends forever!”
  5. They enjoy pitching in and helping with community projects.

  6. They can hike uphill for 1 ½ miles and not get tired.
  7. They love movie nights.
  8. They are compassionate and love to help others.
  9. They love to take goofy selfies.
  10. They have cool hobbies.

  12. They still love to hunt Easter eggs, especially when there is money hidden inside the eggs.
  13. They can be very creative.
  14. They can inspire others and be good role models.
  15. They love to make and build things.
  16. They love to cook and experiment in the kitchen.
  17. They enjoy going on mission trips and trying to make a difference in the world for good.Haiti trip
  18. They are FULL of energy!!!
  19. They love to climb trees.
  20. They love to play games.
  21. They will read all the Harry Potter books with you.
  22. They will watch the Harry Potter movie marathon with you.

  25. They are pretty good at wrapping presents.
  26. They are even better at unwrapping presents.

  30. They love to swim on a hot day.
  31. They know how to do cool science experiments.

  34. They aren’t too old to do kid things, like blow bubbles.
  35. They are really good at carving pumpkins.
  36. They are pretty good at washing cars, even if they miss a spot here and there.Car wash

  38. They can make awesome birthday cakes.
  39. They help mom and dad have happier birthdays.

  42. They can create fun, beautiful works of art.
  43. They still love to blow out the candles on their birthday cake.
  44. They love to do weekend projects with dad.

  45. They can get really excited about Corvettes.
  46. They are not afraid to try something new.
  47. They enjoy doing sidewalk chalk art.
  48. They like to ride bicycles with you.
  49. At the beach, they can dig incredible holes in the sand that require a backhoe to fill them in.


    No, this is not a toy.

  50. Some of them are awesome enough to compete in the Olympics.
  51. They can have fun pretty much wherever they are.
  52. They love their grandparents.
  53. You can teach them to have an entrepreneurial spirit.

  55. You can’t conduct Vacation Bible School at church without their help.
  56. They can figure out how to use a brand new cell phone, ipad or computer in about 5 minutes or less, even if they’ve never seen it before.
  57. They are always down for making and eating pizza.

So there you have it! After a few suggestions from readers, and my own brainstorming, we came up with 57 more reasons to love those crazy, sweet, wonderful kids, for a total of 114. I am sure you have some of your own that you could share in the comment section below. I would love to hear any you can think of to add to the list. But most important, tell your teens how many things you love about them. They will love hearing it.
